Embracing Our Differences 2025

I'm excited to share that I had a piece of artwork accepted into the international exhibition “Embracing Our Differences 2025” in Sarasota and St. Petersburg, Florida.

The EOB organization will reveal the 50 artists and artworks in November. Having my art chosen is quite an honor, and the submitted piece means a lot; there are intense emotions, feelings, and imaginings when I view the art. Since it was one artwork chosen from over 10K international entries (from 122 nations), I guess the curators felt it too. I'm completely honored. The exhibit takes place on 50 billboards in a bayfront park in Sarasota, FL. I still cannot imagine making it out of over 10,100 international entries! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. This is stop number one for this artwork, I have many future plans for this piece (part of a series) and the message it represents.

I'll share what I wrote about the piece without sharing the physical art or title (I feel like that isn't cheating too much). My words are a call to action:

"TBD" is a deeply personal piece that reflects my journey as a disabled veteran witnessing the devastating impact of mental health struggles and suicide among veterans. This art captures the haunting isolation and darkness that many veterans face. Through a fusion of abstract forms and fragmented imagery, I aim to convey inner turmoil and feeling lost within one's mind. The muted colors and distorted shapes symbolize the chaos and confusion that often accompany PTSD, while the figure represents the lingering presence of despair and loss. This piece is a call to action for greater awareness and support for veterans battling mental health issues. It serves as a reminder that, even in the depths of despair, there is a need for understanding, compassion, and hope for healing. "TBD" is my voice, reaching out from the darkness in memory of those we've lost and in support of those still fighting"
